Three Tips for a Warehouse Job Interview
November 24th, 2017So, you’ve got an upcoming interview for a great job at a top-notch warehouse in your region. Chances are good your résumé and cover letter did the trick in encouraging the company to meet with you. Not surprisingly though, the interview plays the most important role in whether you receive a job offer.
With earning a new warehouse job as the plan, here are a few tips to help you give a winning performance during an interview. Be sure to review these ideas before practicing for the big day.
Dress for Success
Even if the warehouse job in question has a casual dress code, wearing jeans and a T-shirt on the day of your interview won’t get you the gig. Instead, go the business casual route with a dress shirt and a nice pair of khakis to stand out from the pack. Additionally, take extra care with your personal hygiene – a shower, shave and a haircut is the smart thing to do.
Interview Practice is Important
Work on speaking clearly, making natural eye contact and displaying positive body language. Also review your résumé – especially the skills and professional history sections – so information is at the front of your mind when answering questions.
Try to get a friend or family member to serve as the interviewer for your practice session. Treat the interview practice like the real thing by following a proper dress code and hygiene as noted earlier. A trusted recruiter can also help you prepare for a successful performance if no one from your family has the time.
Research the Company Beforehand
The night before your interview or earlier, research the company where you are interviewing. Try to get a feel for their warehouse culture, typical project work and the management team. If you get the chance to ask a question of your own during the interview, show off your research with a meaningful query or two.
Any hiring manager will be impressed by the effort you showed by researching their company. It shows the kind of enthusiasm many organizations are looking for in their employees.
